In fact, the impact of consistently being in nature is so important that some health care professionals are writing “park prescriptions” to get people outside more often!
The best part? The barrier of entry for spending time with nature is low.
Many people can get a dose of nature by taking a walk at a local park or garden. People with limited access to outdoor spaces or with limited mobility can still reap many of the benefits of nature exposure from tending to indoor plants or listening to nature sounds, such as bird calls.
Research has shown that those who spend as little as 120 minutes in nature each week report significantly higher levels of wellbeing and good health than those who do not. The benefits are the same regardless of if the 2 hours are spent in one day or across the whole week, making it easy to fit in wherever it works in a busy schedule.

- Virtual Race - Reach 60 miles by challenge end
- Streak - Reach 5,000 steps each day of the challenge
- Quote - Generates a new daily quote for each day of your challenge. Great for a little extra motivation during your challenge!

Rewards Strategy
You can pull a report to determine the participants who reached the Virtual Race or the daily Streak goal, and raffle off prizes from there. We suggest prizes that will reinforce the themes of the challenge, such as camping gear or outdoor classes.
Prize Ideas:
- Branded company baseball caps, flannels, or other outdoor gear
- Paid excursion to a local rock climbing gym, kayak class, or other outdoor experience
- Gift card to REI or local outdoor supply shop
